Healthy houseplants

During fall and winter we are mostly living indoors. Healthy houseplants can improve the  indoor quality of living.

This article describes the healthy attributes  of houseplants that are suitable for every living or bedroom.

Philodendron

The Philodendron collects dust due to its large and tacky leaves and works to purify the air. But be aware that the philodendron family, which includes Swiss cheese plant, heartleaf and fiddle-leaf philodendron, have a toxicity level of mild to moderate for cats and dogs. Oral irritation, pain and swelling of mouth, tongue and lips, excessive drooling, vomiting, difficulty swallowing can occur.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is well known for its use in cosmetics and perfumes. When you incur a burn in the kitchen, you can take its leaf, split it, and use the residue to help heal the burn. This helps to reduce scarring and blistering.

However it can be beneficial for men the Aloe vera is highly toxic to cats.

Pothos Plants

Pothos plants are perfect for rooms with less sunlight. They can grow in low lights and not only will purify the air, but it also works to eliminate odors.

But keep the plant away from your pets. If you suspect that your cat has ingested any part of a Pothos plant, contact your vet immediately.

Snake Plant

These plants have a low maintenance, but they work to filter the indoor air. The snake plant is one of the only plants within the indoor plant arena that can transform CO2 into oxygen throughout the night.

The bedroom is the perfect place as the plants’ ability to absorb toluene, benzene, formaldehyde, and formaldehyde means it can combat allergies. However the plant is toxic to dogs and cats, which can suffer from nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

The Parlour Palm

The plant is scientifically proven to remove toxins from the air such as formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and benzene. NASA declared the Parlour Palm as one of their top air purifying indoor plants.

The parlor palm is considered non-toxic. Tall and elegant, this pet-safe plant thrives in indirect light and tolerates shadier spots too.

Spider Plant

Keep a spider plant, which is non-toxic to animals and very easy to care for, in your spare room. The plant reduces carbon monoxide which in turn, helps to combat fatigue, reduce headaches and even the chance of cold sores.

Boston Fern

Boston Fern

The fern reduces formaldehyde, a toxin often found in cosmetics that are used in the bathroom. Its loves a shady and humid climate, making them perfect for this place. Your cat will probably not reside in your bathroom but the plant is completely save form them.

Succulents

This plant really drives on team effort. In groups they prevent dry skin, colds, and sore throats. Succulents are completely harmless to animals. Additionally, most animals instinctively avoid eating succulents. They just don’t smell or taste very appetizing.

Dracaena Marginata

Exeter University found that the Dracaena Marginata can improve memory by 20 percent and as a result, the WFH generation is adopting these plants within their workplace setting. But don’t let your pet close to this plant. Dracaena is toxic to both cats and dogs.
